Above the town, the ridge gives a broad perspective on Zakopane and the Tatras. A funicular visit is an optional paid activity, subject to operation and visibility.
KRAKÓW TO ZAKOPANE · PRIVATE DAY TRIP
Mountain views, wooden architecture and time to wander. Discover the town at your own pace, with private transport there and back.

THE EXPERIENCE
A private Zakopane day trip from Kraków is a good fit when you want the atmosphere of the Polish mountains without committing to a long trail. The focus is the town: its streets, highland character and views towards the Tatras. You can spend longer at a favourite stop instead of following a shared coach timetable.
Our suggested day pairs Gubałówka with a relaxed visit to central Zakopane. A village stop or a longer lunch can replace part of the town visit. If your priority is walking to an alpine lake, choose the separate Tatras and Morskie Oko itinerary; it needs a different departure time and much more walking.
WHAT MAKES THE JOURNEY
Above the town, the ridge gives a broad perspective on Zakopane and the Tatras. A funicular visit is an optional paid activity, subject to operation and visibility.
Leave space for the main promenade, a café and a meal chosen by your party. This is free time on foot, with a meeting point agreed with your driver.
Ask for a stop focused on traditional buildings or the nearby village of Chochołów. We adjust the route rather than squeeze extra stops into an already full day.

A SUGGESTED ITINERARY
A town-and-viewpoint day with an early start and room for lunch. Mountain traffic can extend both road legs.
Illustrative times from central Kraków, not a confirmed timetable. Traffic, weather, admission slots and your chosen pick-up point can change the plan.
Meet at your agreed address and begin the southbound journey.
Allow time for the funicular, views and any queues. Adjust if conditions are poor.
Explore Krupówki and choose a lunch stop; meals are separate.
A short architecture or scenic stop, selected in advance.
Depart for your chosen return address; arrival depends on traffic.
EXTEND YOUR DAY / Around 12 hours
Mountain views in the morning, time in Zakopane, then a generous afternoon at Chochołowskie Termy. Choose this extended private day trip from Kraków when you want sightseeing and thermal pools in one journey.

THE COMBINED ITINERARY
This version keeps Gubałówka and Krupówki, then replaces the shorter itinerary’s extra sightseeing with approximately three hours at the pools. Funicular and bath admission are agreed separately; allow time to change.

Continue towards the baths. A village photo stop can be agreed if traffic and your admission time allow.

Meet your driver for the return journey; arrival depends on road conditions.
BEFORE YOU SET OFF
Zakopane can work as a town visit in different seasons, but the mountain view is weather-dependent. On a cloudy day, give more time to architecture, cafés or an indoor attraction agreed beforehand.
Confirm whether you want the Gubałówka funicular before buying a ticket. Share mobility needs and child-seat requirements. The walking can be shortened, but vehicle access does not extend to every pedestrian area.
Choose the extended itinerary below for mountain views, time on Krupówki and approximately three hours at Chochołowskie Termy. The shorter standalone option remains available.
