St Kinga’s Chapel
An expansive underground interior with carved surfaces and chandeliers: the visual centrepiece of the Tourist Route.
KRAKÓW TO WIELICZKA · UNDERGROUND HERITAGE
Chambers, salt-carved details and St Kinga’s Chapel. Pair the underground visit with a considered private journey from your chosen address.

THE EXPERIENCE
A private trip to Wieliczka works well when you want a distinctive visit without setting aside a full day for the road. Your transport is arranged around an actual mine admission slot, leaving the rest of your Kraków stay easier to plan. The car journey and the guided underground visit are two separate parts of the day.
The Tourist Route brings you through mining chambers and salt interiors rather than a conventional museum gallery. Leave time to look closely at the carved details and to follow the guide’s route. A private Defender transfer does not make the underground group private; a dedicated guide or private visit must be arranged explicitly.
WHAT MAKES THE JOURNEY
An expansive underground interior with carved surfaces and chandeliers: the visual centrepiece of the Tourist Route.
The route introduces historic extraction and salt transport through the spaces where the mine’s story unfolds.
Choose a shorter salt mine visit with time left in Kraków, or combine it with Auschwitz-Birkenau using the full-day schedule below.

EXTEND YOUR DAY / Around 12 hours
A full day combining a visit to both parts of Auschwitz-Birkenau with the Wieliczka Salt Mine Tourist Route. Your private driver connects the two visits, with a meal break and time for admission checks between them.

THE COMBINED ITINERARY
Both timed visits must fit together before the transport schedule is confirmed. The sample below allows 3.5 hours at the Memorial and up to three hours underground. Visit order may change to match available tickets and guide languages; private transport does not include private guided admission.
Suggested times from central Kraków, subject to traffic, opening hours and confirmed admission. Another pick-up location can be arranged.
Prefer the shorter itinerary?Explore separately: Auschwitz-BirkenauAn early departure from Kraków leaves time for the first admission. Collection elsewhere changes the schedule.
Arrive at least 30 minutes before the Memorial visit and follow the entry-card instructions.
Allow the full scheduled visit with an official guide-educator, including movement between the two sites.
Pause after the visit, then travel to the mine. The meal stop and road allowance are adjusted together.
Check in for the confirmed language and admission slot. Follow your ticket’s arrival instructions.
Explore the underground route with a guide. The visit usually takes two to three hours and includes many stairs.
Meet your driver after exiting the mine and return to the agreed address.
BEFORE YOU SET OFF
The operator lists roughly 3.5 km, around 800 stairs and 17–18°C underground for the Tourist Route. Wear comfortable shoes and a layer suited to a cool interior.
The guided route usually takes 2–3 hours. Confirm the language, admission time and meeting point from your ticket, then arrange your pick-up around them.
The standard route contains many stairs. If anyone has mobility limitations, confirm an appropriate visit directly with the mine before committing. Check current bag restrictions on the operator’s visitor page.
YOUR PRIVATE JOURNEY
Request a private vehicle and driver for the agreed route, with collection and return planned around your party. Kraków is the main hub; another starting point can be requested.
See the Defender and passenger spaceAttraction admission, guides, meals, optional activities and parking arrangements must be itemised in the confirmed plan. A private vehicle does not mean private access to attractions.
Tell us the number of guests, bags, child-seat needs and your travel date. Seating and luggage capacity are checked together. Availability and the final itinerary are confirmed before travel.
Wieliczka Salt Mine
Tickets are separate unless expressly included in your confirmed arrangements. Tell us whether you already have a booking and in which language.
The Tourist Route is visited with the mine’s guide. Your driver is not a substitute for that guide.
It can be, because the suggested plan reserves about half a day. Avoid placing a fixed flight or train immediately after the estimated return; allow a buffer.
Auschwitz-Birkenau & Wieliczka in one day: yes. Allow around 12 hours from Kraków. Keep the standalone itinerary for a shorter trip, or choose the extended schedule on this page. Admission and final timings are confirmed separately.
Check the operator before choosing admission or activities. Information reviewed 3 October 2026; opening times and access can change.
